Featuring the Schaeffer Collection
Mon 9 October 2000 - Sun 9 September 2001
Ground Level

Frederic Leighton Clytie c. 1895-96 (coll. John and Julie Schaeffer).

To celebrate the inauguration of the John and Julie Schaeffer Gallery, John and Julie Schaeffer have lent thirty major Victorian paintings which are displayed alongside works from the Gallery's own collection. The Schaeffer Collection is one of the most significant private collections of Victorian art in the world. It includes major works by Lord Leighton, Burne-Jones, Holman Hunt, Spencer Stanhope, Waterhouse and Watts, which complement the Gallery's already rich holdings.
