A free conference for tertiary students. Speakers will use the 2004 Biennale of Sydney as a
framework to critically examine individual practice, to explore broader developments and to
reflect on the nature of biennales as vehicles for contemporary art discourse.

key themes and ideas, diverse venues, forms of display and the artists and artworks at the
Gallery.

Invention and imagination
Investigate the artworks and ideas of the Biennale. Uncover key contemporary art issues and
explore the seemingly limitless realm of the artist's vision of the world through the theme
of reason and emotion.
