ART AFTER HOURS - OCTOBER/ NOVEMBER PROGRAMME
Late night openings until 9pm every Wednesday are a dynamic feature at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. As well as the exhibitions on view, the Art After Hours programme combines an exciting mix of FREE events to complement exhibition themes. The range of activities and lively evening atmosphere are hugely popular with more than 1000 visitors on average attending every Wednesday night.
The new Art After Hours programme runs from 8 October until 12 November.
CELEBRITY TALKS 6.30pm - Admission Free
8 October - Celebrity forum with The Novocastrians: Tony Squires, Mikey Robins, Steve Abbott (aka The Sandman), Joyce Morgan (SMH Senior Arts Writer) and Nick Mitcevich (Director of Newcastle Regional Gallery).
15 October Drawn from Dobell. Bruce Petty, Political Cartoonist.
22 October Getting sculptural. Vince Sorrenti, Comedian. 6pm Start.
29 October Belonging in New Asia. Jason Yat-sen Li, International Lawyer.
5 November Relationships with Asia. Geraldine Doogue, ABC Radio & TV presenter.
12 November Asia Today: Myth and Reality. Lee Lin Chin, SBS News presenter.
FILMS 7.15pm - Admission Free Robert Herbert's film programme encompasses rarely screened cinema classics, important documentaries, shorts and experimental films.
To complement the new Asian galleries, the October/November series includes Japanese animation and Indian Bollywood. Highlights include Mira Nair�s Monsoon Wedding (2002) - Wednesday, 22 October and the Bollywood musical Laila Majnu directed by H.S. Rawail (1976) - Wednesday, 29 October at an earlier time of 6pm.
JAZZ IN THE ARTBAR - 7.30pm Jazz trios and an evening menu transform the Caf� into ArtBar after five.
GUIDED TOUR OF THE GALLERY - 7.30pm Leaving from the Information desk on Ground Level. Free of charge.
A Courtesy Bus runs to surrounding car parks and Martin Place from 7pm - 9pm. The Gallery Shop and Library are open until 8.45pm.
