The winner of the inaugural Citigroup Private Bank Australian Photographic Portrait Prize will be announced to the media only on Friday 21 March at 12noon at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
The winner of this Prize, to be awarded annually, receives $15,000. Together with the winning work, a selection of entries will be on display at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in conjunction with the 2003 Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes from Saturday 22 March until Sunday 25 May.
The judging panel consider still-based photographic mediums, including all types of analogue and digital photography. Entry to the prize requires the photographic portraits to have been taken in the 12 months prior to the closing date for entries, and entrants to be residents of Australia.
The judging panel comprises five Trustees of the Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Director of the Australian Centre for Photography.
The Art Gallery of New South Wales was fortunate to secure a sponsor with an existing interest in photography and Citigroup Private Bank's sponsorship has enabled the establishment of this major photography prize.
The names of the photographers whose work has been selected for exhibition will be announced to the media only on Thursday 13 March. |
