Art After Hours Archibald

Wednesdays, 28 April to 26 May 2004

Art After Hours celebrates a new dimension of the Archibald Prize!

For five weeks the Gallery's late night Wednesday program Art After Hours celebrates NOT the Archibald artists, nor the celebrity subjects, gigantic canvases or record crowds - instead the spotlight falls on the sounds of Archibald.

Commencing Wednesday 28 April at 6.30pm, ensembles from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music perform Archibald inspired concerts in the 19th century courts of the Gallery. Surrounded by the grand architectural ceilings of the old courts, percussionists through to vocalists perform their interpretation of the concert title: Portrait of the musician as an artist.

The concerts are free of a charge and comprise a different instrumental ensemble every week. Program listed below.

The Gallery keeps its doors open late every Wednesday until 9pm with a host of events including free films, live jazz in the café and art lectures. It's a great chance to see exhibitions after hours or simply enjoy a glass of wine over looking Woolloomooloo Bay at the Gallery's Wednesday night ArtBar.

WHEN: Wednesdays: 28 April, & 5,12,19, 26 May at 6.30pm
