Holiday Character Tours: Meet Mimih and Zhenmu Shou

Crossing Country Mimih Tour
Be taken on an exciting tour of the exhibition, Crossing Country, opening 25 September. Let our Mimih-inspired character teach you about the artists, country and stories of the exhibition of bark paintings, sculptures, weaving, etchings and wood carvings from Western Arnhem land.

Zhenmu Shou - the guide from the grave: tour
After being frozen in time for over one thousand years, Zhenmu Shou springs back to life to become the guide from the grave! The fierce but friendly guardian warrior beckons children and adults to join him in discovering the treasures of the Asian galleries. Help him find strange camels, ancient watchtowers, delightful dragons and the elephant-headed god, Ganesh.

Commedia dell'Arte
Meet a cast of 16th century carnival characters in a lively puppetry performance of Italian mask theatre, Arlecchino's Frog Prince. Discover a world populated by misers, wenches, witches and tricksters. Performed by Dennis Murphy.

Holiday Practical Workshops

Crossing Country Workshops
Create your own personal response to the exhibition by creating individual signs and symbols to represent yourself and your environment through a variety of mediums. Hear about the different creation stories and diverse artistic practices of western Arnhem Land. Join specially invited guest Ben Taylor who will talk about his life and practise growing up in Kakadu, Western Arnhem Land.
