FREE UPCOMING EVENTS AT THE GALLERY
The upcoming weeks present the opportunity to explore the richness of the Islamic arts. The Artbar comes alive with musical performances on traditional Middle Eastern instruments including the tabla, darbuka and reed instruments. Speakers from the Islamic community share their personal experiences and knowledge of Islamic culture, art and religion, and the film program presents recent Iranian films.

11 July Davood A Tabrizi, multi award winning Persian composer, plays Middle Eastern classical and folk music
 
18, 25 July & 1 August Salam, present a journey across Turkish, Indian and Armenian classical music with Veren Grigorov on Violin and Viola and Rob Shannon on tabla and darbuka. 
8 August Kim Sanders, world music pioneer, plays music from Turkey to Indonesia using a variety of traditional flutes and reed instruments.

FILM PROGRAM 7.15pm
The Iranian New Wave in association with The Arts of Islam exhibition, presents some of the most important feature films to have emerged from Iran in the last decade, concentrating particularly on stories of strong, resilient Muslim women and children.
