Goddess: Divine Energy
Meet Durga, Goddess of Strength, and Radha, Goddess of Love. Goddess: Divine Energy is the first major exhibition in Australia to explore the many manifestations of the divine female in Hindu and Buddhist art. Over 150 exquisitely carved sculptures and lavish, richly coloured and delicately composed paintings from India, Tibet and Nepal, dating from 2000 BCE through to the 20th century.

During 9 – 26 January (Tuesday–Sunday 11am – 4pm) experience the skills of West Bengali craftsmen as they create a spectacular image of the goddess Durga which, when completed, will be immersed in the Sydney Harbour waters.

Anne Landa Award
Monika Tichacek’s The Shadowers was the winner of this year’s Anne Landa Award. See her video installation and the work of the other six artists selected for the Anne Landa Award – the first award in Australia for moving image and new media work.

Modern Chinese Prints
This exhibition reveals the very distinct journey Chinese printmaking has made from the 1930s to today. Comprising 70 prints by 40 artists, the exhibition is drawn from the collections of the Art Gallery of New South Wales and Sydney University and is on display in the Asian galleries.

Carl Plate
Carl Plate was one of Sydney's most important modern painters of the post-war period. This exhibition of almost 30 works, some not seen in public before, includes his masterpiece Graph segments 1963-64.

Tony Clark and John Wolseley – A Bird in the Hand
A Bird in the Hand contrasts the work of Tony Clark and John Wolseley, two contemporary artists of standing, who are at the moment both producing 'bird paintings'. From very different backgrounds and artistic positions they approach the subject of birds in very different ways.

9 Shades of Whiteley is a mini-retrospective exhibition at the Brett Whiteley Studio, tracing the artist's life and career from his earliest work in 1955 – Self Portrait at Sixteen – to just a few months before his death.
