River Thames pencil, carbon pencil According to Marjory Rees's diary 11 July 1953: "We went to a place called Bourne End, about an hour's motor trip from here, where the Hutchison family [Peter Templeton's brother-in-law] have a weekender right on the bank of the River Thames. They...took us in their motor boat along the river, the trees & scenery were lovely -- quite unlike anything else..."
