This exhibition celebrates the life and work of one of Australia's leading photographers. It explores Cotton's abiding love of nature, astute powers of observation, democratic approach to subject matter and sheer delight in and mastery of the photographic medium. The photographs are drawn from the collections of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the National Gallery of Australia and the National Library of Australia. A number of outstanding but previously unknown photographs from Cotton's own collection are also represented. Curated by Helen Ennis, lecturer at the Australian National University, Canberra School of Art and acknowledged photography scholar. A fully illustrated catalogue will be available.
