This focus room exhibition reflects the idea of a new picturesque in Australian art, flourishing largely
through the legacy of TS Eliot's poetry. It includes paintings, sculptures, watercolours,
photographs and collages, which are based principally on images of abandoned sites and
paraphernalia of mid-twentieth century urban culture buildings, streets, interiors,
objets trouves. Artists include Jeffrey Smart, Colin Lanceley, Rosalie Gascoigne,
Robert Klippel and photographers Max Dupain and David Moore. |
