Exquisite Corpse with Fire
In conjunction with the Archibald Prize, the 2001 Sulman Prize has been awarded to Euan Macleod for his painting Exquisite Corpse with Fire.
The judges would also like to make special mention of the work Harbour Light by Elisabeth Cummings.
Euan Macleod won the 1999 Archibald prize with his painting titled Self portrait/head like a hole.
Macleod has had numerous solo exhibitions and has exhibited extensively in group shows including the Sulman and Wynne Prizes. His work is represented in many private and public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
The winner of the Sir John Sulman Prize receives $10,000 through the support of the Colonial Foundation Charitable Trust
The Sulman Prize is awarded for the best subject painting, genre painting or mural project by an Australian artist. Established within the terms of the late Sir John Sulman's bequest, it was first awarded in 1936.
The judge this year was the winner of the 1996 Archibald Prize, Wendy Sharpe.
