Nigel Helyer Metamorphoses 1997 Nigel Helyer | These acoustic sculptures, to be found lurking in the old courts, were originally created for an installation in Elizabeth Bay House and mimic some of the furnishings there. The Macleay family who lived in the house collected insects and butterflies, so the sculptures partly mimic these creatures as if metamorphosing from sofas to larvae, all the time murmuring and clicking their insectivorous couch conversations.
