The title of Birch's new installation suggests an element of Victorian whimsy. It is also anthropomorphic, ascribing human attributes to elements of the natural. Birch's 'woods' are free-standing fibreglass trees, carefully crafted and yet obviously fake. His 'sprites' appear amongst the trees, on video and LCD screens. This work follows on from Birch's previous explorations on the nature of visual experience.
