Lorrkkon or hollow log coffins
are used for the final burial of human remains.
The deceased’s bones are placed into the
lorrkkon which is painted with clan designs. The
lorrkkon is then ceremonially placed into the
ground. Lorrkkon made for sale through Maningrida
Arts and Culture are more decorative than those
made for actual burials, and are made from the
termite hollowed Manbuluduk (stringy bark tree).
