Kay Lindjuwanga

Kay Lindjuwanga is one of the foremost female artists working for Maningrida Arts and Culture today. Lindjuwanga is the daughter of Peter Marralwanga, and sister to Ivan Namirrkki and Samuel Namunjdja. Along with her daughter, Anna Wurrkidj, she was taught to paint by her husband, the acclaimed artist John Mawurndjul. Since 1980, Lindjuwanga has often assisted Mawurndjul with his painting. Lindjuwanga now exhibits independently, and was the first Kuninjku woman to bring bark painting into the art centre. Apart from bark paintings, her repertoire includes lorrkkon (hollow logs), mimih carvings and etchings.
