Timothy Wulanjbirr
Timothy Wulanjbirr is the son of Lena Kuriniya and
Crusoe Kuningbal. Unlike his brothers, Crusoe Kurddal
and Owen Yalandja, Wulanjbirr is known for his bark
paintings and lorrkkon (hollow logs), rather than mimih
or yawkyawk carvings. Wulanjbirr is one of a number
of younger artists influenced by John Mawurndjul and
his use of rarrk. In his works Wulanjbirr employs rarrk
in precise geometric designs that are repeated within
strong graphic forms, typically against a black background. |
